131 Years of God’s Kindness and Faithfulness
Miranda Congregational Church Anniversary
This year we give thanks to God as we mark 131 years of Christian witness at Miranda Congregational Church.
Since 1894, this congregation has gathered in this place for worship, prayer, fellowship, and the faithful proclamation of the gospel. Across generations, through seasons of change in our community and nation, God has been kind and generous to us. He has sustained a church committed to faithful Bible teaching, gospel proclamation, and sharing the truth and love of Jesus.
One hundred and thirty-one years represents more than longevity. It represents generations of believers who have trusted Christ in changing times, raised families in the faith, served quietly and sacrificially, and laboured for discipleship and mission in this community.
We honour those who have gone before us. Their perseverance, prayer, and steady commitment to the Word of God have laid foundations we continue to build upon today.
An anniversary, however, is not only an opportunity to look back with gratitude. It is also a moment to look forward with renewed confidence in God’s purposes. The Lord who sustained this church through wars, social change, and shifting cultural pressures remains faithful. His gospel has not changed. His Word still speaks. His Spirit continues to work.
As we celebrate this milestone, we recommit ourselves to:
Faithful Bible teaching
Clear gospel proclamation
Sharing the truth and love of Jesus
Growing in discipleship
Engaging in mission within our local community
Our prayer is that Miranda Congregational Church would continue to be a place where Christ is honoured, the Scriptures are opened, disciples are formed, and the good news of salvation is proclaimed with clarity and conviction.
We also look ahead with hope for the future witness of this congregation on this site. As God has been kind and generous to us in the past, so we pray he would continue to grow and strengthen this church for the years to come. We desire that this place would remain a visible and faithful gospel presence in our community — a church marked by steady discipleship, warm fellowship, and courageous mission in the name of Christ.
We give thanks not merely for 131 years of history, but for 131 years of God’s sustaining grace. Indeed, the story of this church is ultimately a testimony to the kindness and generosity of God toward his people.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
May the Lord continue to build his church here for generations to come.
With gratitude,
Rev Stuart Crawshaw
