Church Statement on the Bondi Shooting

Soul Revival Church expresses its deep sorrow and condemnation following the violent attack on the Jewish community in Bondi that has claimed innocent lives and traumatised many others.

This act of violence is evil and unjustifiable. Every human life is precious, made in the image of God, and any attack on innocent people stands in direct opposition to God’s will.

We grieve with the families and friends of those who have been killed, and we are praying for those who are injured and all who are struggling with fear and shock in the aftermath of this tragedy. We give thanks for the bravery and swift response of first responders and medical personnel.

We also wish to express our solidarity with the Jewish community, particularly in Bondi and across Sydney. This anti-Semitic attack has caused deep distress among our Jewish neighbours. Antisemitism and hatred have no place in our society, and they have no place anywhere near the church of Jesus Christ. Our Jewish neighbours are valued members of our Australian community, and we stand with them in grief and support.

In times like this, the Christian response is not silence or indifference, but prayer, compassion, and moral clarity. We pray for comfort for those who mourn, healing for the injured, peace for our city, and justice through lawful authorities.

We can remember that

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

We will pray for the victims, the Jewish community, first responders, and our city this weekend. We put our trust in Jesus Christ, who will one day make everything new.

Soul Revival Church will be praying for the victims, the Jewish community, first responders, and all affected in our gatherings this weekend. Please pray for Marty Symons, a Chaplain at Long Bay jail who has lost his friend and fellow Chaplain Rabbi Eli Schlanger. Also, pray for Matt Redmond, working for Anglicare as he speaks with and support local Anglican Church leaders also affected and who had congregation members as some of the first responders.
